Keep an eye on your thrift bounties

In a remarkable event at a Pennsylvania Goodwill, a 14-karat gold Lego Kanohi Hau mask (from the Bionicle series), initially overlooked, auctioned for over $18,000.

Found in a jewelry donation box, this rarity—one of roughly 30 made for a 2001 contest—spotlights the thrilling unpredictability of thrift shopping.

The find not only emphasizes the value of such unique collectibles but also aids Goodwill's mission to support those facing life challenges. It's a reminder to keep an eye on your thrift shop hauls—you never know when you'll strike gold.

While in the subject of custom builds...

A Lego Godzilla, Smaller Scale, Same Terror

Imagine Godzilla, but if it stepped on Legos instead of buildings.

Matthew Esposito's LEGO Godzilla, inspired by the 2019 movie, manages to be just as menacing at a fraction of the size. With detail-packed design including the trademark blue flames, this mini-monster proves that size isn't everything in the world of destruction.

Now, if only it could navigate through a living room without causing a rampage. Dive in for a full peek at the Lego Ideas interview with Matt.

Lego Sales Up in US, Despite Challenges in China

Here's some news for the spreadsheet warriors in the house.

In a year when the toy industry's fortunes crumbled faster than a poorly constructed Lego tower, the Lego Group kept its footing, stacking up a 2% revenue increase to around $9.65 billion.

Amidst a global playtime downturn, Lego's bricks clicked into place, especially in the U.S. and Europe, defying China's economic sandpit. Despite a slight stumble in operating profit—akin to the sharp surprise of stepping on a stray Lego in the night—the company's bold moves, including opening 147 new stores and launching a Lego Fortnite game, showcased its blueprint for growth.

Lego's knack for staying "cool with kids" (and adults who refuse to grow up) proves that even in a tough market, the right combination of innovation, nostalgia, and a storytelling can build success.

Oppenheimer and Albert Einstein

For those who missed the Oscars, Nolan's Oppenheimer nabbed 7 Oscars. Though Albert Einstein plays a small role in the film,  he represents an older, more experienced scientist who has already grappled with the ethical implications of such destructive force.

Heavy implications of atomic weapons aside, let's shift gears with our LEGO Einstein T-shirt—a playful tribute to the scientific genius.

That's it for this edition, and remember, let your imagination hop higher than a bunny on a sugar high.

Till next time,
