🧱 LEGO Fortnite Merges Brick Building with Battle Royale
Today's newsletter is a 4 minute read, lets get to it!
📸 LEGO Crafts the Timeless Polaroid OneStep
LEGO recreated the iconic 1977 Polaroid OneStep camera back to life, not for snapping shots but for snapping bricks.
Marc Corfmat, the brains behind this idea, submitted it to the LEGO Ideas platform. After a few attempts, his Polaroid design, inspired by his sister's love for instant cameras, finally clicked with the fans, securing 10,000 votes.
LEGO's design team in Denmark worked their magic, keeping the original fan design largely intact, with a more pronounced rainbow stripe. The set, a buildable accessory with a replica box of Polaroid Time-Zero Supercolor SX-70 Land Film and three pre-developed instant photos, even ejects a photo when you press the shutter button.
But creating this LEGO Polaroid was no small feat. From the functioning shutter button, a request from Polaroid's CEO, to figuring out how to make a LEGO photo feel like a Polaroid, the team faced several challenges. The Verge has an amazing article telling the behind-the-scenes story of the collab between Polaroid and Lego.

💸 The (Pricey) Return of X-Men Legends
Ah, the Saturday morning cartoons.
Anyone remember the X-men intro song?
The X-Men are making a grand comeback in LEGO form with the new X-Jet set, launching on January 1, 2024. It's inspired by the upcoming 'X-Men '97' animated series, continuing the saga from the beloved '90s cartoon.
This set follows a long hiatus since the last X-Men set in 2014 and includes four minifigures: Wolverine, Rogue, Cyclops, and Magneto.
However, nostalgia comes at a cost. The set, priced at $85 for a 552-piece ensemble, might make your wallet groan, but the joy of rekindling childhood memories? Priceless. As individual minifigure sellers ourselves, we're sure the Cyclops minifig will be a hot item.
Now time for some trivia.
❓
Which state has the longest coastline in the contiguous United States?
The answer:
🟠 Sunshine State in Bricks
Forget the postcards, we're bringing you Florida in the style of Lego Architecture sets—without the humidity.
What's in the bag?
Seven epic slices of Florida – from the laid-back Florida Keys to the glitz of the Miami Skyline and the retro cool of South Beach. We've even crammed in Cinderella's Castle for those who still believe in fairy tales, the historic Castillo de San Marcos for the history buffs, a blast-off with the Kennedy Space Center Shuttle Launch, and a lap around the Daytona Speedway for adrenaline junkies.
No sunburns, no sandy towels, just pure brick-building bliss.
Bricks Meet Battle Royale
Imagine this: LEGO's charm crashes into Fortnite's frenzy.
It's an adult's sandbox dream, or is it? With up to 8 players building and battling, LEGO Fortnite is redefining game nights.
The Flip Side
Yet, it's not all playful construction. Some gamers, straying from the path of light-hearted creativity, have ventured into darker realms, reconstructing sensitive historical events. It's a jarring reminder of the fine line between imaginative freedom and its potential misuses.
This is why we can't have nice things!
Despite the bumps, LEGO Fortnite beckons. If you're game enough to explore this brick-laden landscape, why not start with a little guidance?
Lego Fortnite is available on PC and Mac, and all major consoles.
That's a wrap for this week. See you next time for more stories from the world of Lego. Until then, keep stacking those bricks!
Cheers,
The Studbee Team from Sunny Florida 🍹
